Course Description 
The Level 2 Basic life Support / CPR & AED Course is a half day classroom based course that focuses on a range of subjects to preserve life in an emergency situation. 

​

Who Should Attend

This course is ideal for individuals who want to learn the basics to enable them to offer critical basic life support to someone in need. 

​

Recent studies have shown that for every minute that someone in a cardiac arrest situation does not receive CPR and having a defibrillator used on them, their chance of survival decreases by 10%

​

Minimum Age

The qualification is available to learners who are aged 14 and over. However, Learners cannot be a first aider in a workplace until they are 16 years old. â€‹

Course Validity

The qualification is valid for 3 years from date of issue. It is strongly recommended that the learner attends annual refresher training.

Course Delivery

This course is offered in person for 4 hours (Half Day)

Course Content

​​1. **Role and Responsibilities of a First Aider:**
   - Understanding the role and responsibilities of a first aider
   - Legal requirements and regulations (including Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981)

​​

2. **Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Automated External Defibrillator (AED):**
   - Performing CPR on adults, children, and infants
   - Safe and effective use of an AED

​

3. **Managing Unconscious Casualties:**
   - Placing a casualty in the recovery position
   - Handling seizures and managing unresponsive casualties

​​

4. **Practical Scenarios and Simulations:**
    - Engaging in practical exercises to apply learned skills
    - Participating in scenario-based training to simulate real-life situations

​

These topics ensure that participants are well-equipped to handle an emergency situation and offer basic life support until help arrives. 

How will I be assessed?

Assessment Criteria

Continuous observation by the trainer and written assessment.

​

Assessment Grading

Grading is either Pass or Referred. If you are referred, we will be offered 1 free place on a separate course which includes a resit.
