
Course Description
Where an employer’s assessment of First Aid needs identifies that a First Aider or Emergency First Aider is not necessary, the minimum requirement on an employer is to appoint a person to take charge of the First Aid arrangements, including looking after equipment and facilities, and calling the emergency services when required.

This is currently offered as a 2 hour course online. We are currently working towards this becoming an online E-Learning course.
Course Content
This 2 Hour course builds on the knowledge you already have. We will cover the following subjects:

- Roles
- Aims of First Aid
- Definition of First Aid
- Risk Assessments of First Aid
- Equipment and Facilities
- Accident Reporting

2. **Responsibilities of the Appointed Person:**
- Contacting the Emergency Services
- Prioritising Treatment
- Communicating with the Casualty
​
3. **Respiratory Issues:**
- Dealing with choking (for adults, children, and infants)
- Recognizing and managing asthma attacks and hyperventilation

4. **Action in an Emergency:**
- Factors Involved in an Emergency
- Assessing the Scene for Dangers
- Safety Approach
How will I be assessed?
Assessment Criteria
Completion of a short 10 question multiple choice test to check understanding and knowledge.
